This one's and oldie but goodie!
I've wanted to go skydiving for a long time, out of the blue I told Yohana, "Let's go Skydiving on Friday!" She agreed. That weekend I had Fri-Mon off so the idea couldn't of come at a better time.
About twenty minutes into the research phase of looking for a possible sky dive facility I found Skydive Perris. They were my top choice just because of their track record, professional looking company, and they are one of three schools in the United States to adhere to a drug-testing program for instructors, pilots, and mechanics! Interesting isn't it? Only three schools in the United States, WOW!
Anywhooo! We arrived, checked in, did all the paperwork and legal matters, and got video taped saying that we understood what we signed and todays date…haha sounds intense but stuff happens right?
After all of that, we were waiting in their little lounge area watching the previous skydivers maneuver into safe landings on the green fluffy grass. Suddenly they called our names! We were next! AAAAH!
We went into a storage-like room with suits and someone came up to me and said, "Welcome to Skydive Perris, my name is J.C. I'm your instructor". He handed me a suit, after suiting up and strapping into the skydive gear, J.C. started giving me special instructions and took me into a cut out plane for further instructions on how we would exit since we were both human skyscrapers :P
As we were walking towards the loading zone we saw the plane arriving and getting ready to drop us off at thirteen thousand feet. At this point, I already had a permanent smile on my face. I wasn't scared, I was just excited and wanted to jump!
The plane took off and we were flying now, slowly climbing. I looked out the window and thought we were pretty high up until I looked at my altimeter, we were only 3,000 feet high! AAAH! 10,000 more to go! Haha…
I looked over at Yohana and she too had a permanent smile on her face. We were already at 13,000 feet. Showtime!
There were a few skydivers before us that looked very experienced. They went first, one guy, gone, two, gone, they were just falling out of the plane like toothpics off a table…
Of course I'm a gentleman, ladies first :) .... Yohana was next….then me...
She hopped out. With my permanent smile still intact we scooted over towards the door. I was NEXT!!! AAAAAH!
We pulled in sideways next to the opened door and jumped out with our backs towards land… I was watching the plane getting smaller and smaller. This lasted about ten seconds, then we turned and it was 120 mph FACE FIRST TOWARDS EARTH!!! ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GAWWWWADADDWAD!
The most intense feeling I've ever felt in my life! I don't even have the words to describe what I was feeling. Those were the best sixty seconds of my life by far!
Once the parachute deployed it was so peaceful, fresh air, the only sound was coming from the flapping nylon of the parachute. It was almost relaxing, something you might fall asleep to…J.C. let me control the shoot. We were doing spins and flaring when we needed to. It was great!
As soon as we landed JC said to me, "Welcome to the Sky!" I felt very welcomed. I had a great experience and I'm definately going again!
So overall, if you enjoy grabbing life by the horns from time to time I highly recommend Skydiving… :)
