Gracie is our "very curious about nature" Labrador Retriever.  Since we live and play in areas where there is a chance we could come across a rattlesnake...we decided to take her to Rattlesnake Avoidance Training.  The class is given by Singleton's Animal Connection www.petobey.com .  These folks are very good at what they do,  and in a very short period of time (approximately 15 minutes), they were able to train Gracie to completely avoid snakes!  There are several stations where different situations are set up involving (de-fanged) rattlesnakes.  The trainers take the dogs through each station and apply stimulation at a low setting each time the dog takes notice of the snake.  In doing this, the dogs are taught (avoidance behavior) and by the end of the class are able to recognize (and avoid) the snakes by sound, sight, and smell.   We were also taught how to watch for signs from Gracie that may alert us to the presence of a rattlesnake!  This is a great training class to help protect your dog and your family.

By the way, Singleton's Animal Connection/Singleton's Pet Obey offers other types of dog and cat training classes and help for bad habits (jumping, chewing, digging, housebreaking, barking, etc.).

That's awesome that they use live (toothless) rattlers.
