In August of 2005, Danielle (Tropigal) and I took a side trip from visiting my family in North Ridgeville, OH (my hometown) and decided to spend a few nights at the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel. This hotel sits directly across from the American Fall and is close to the Maid of the Mist and Rainbow Bridge. The Sheraton Fallsview Hotel is closer to the Horseshoe Falls and we did not take any pictures inside of it.  First of all, can't say enough about the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel itself. Beautiful and smack dab in the heart of all the attractions. The down comforter was amazing and I would kill to have a jacuzzi tub as big as the one in the room's gigantic bathroom. And the view from the all glass window... well check out the pics and make your opinion! We purchased a Niagara Falls & Great Gorge Adventure Pass online prior to our arrival. The Adventure Pass is a combination of all the main attractions at a reduced price if you were to visit and pay for them all separately. They are as follows:

Maid of the Mist- This is a boat you can hop on which basically travels to the belly of the beast; the thundering cascade of the Horseshoe Falls of Canada. Take your pics while enroute and then seal it up because I had a hard time even keeping my eyes open from the spray.

Journey Behind the Falls- Again; the Horseshoe Falls of Canada. If you have ever seen "Romancing the Stone" where Michael Douglas and Kathlene Turner (Did I just date myself?) are running from the crazy Columbian dude and end up behind the waterfall then you will have a preconceived notion of what it will feel like here. Before going down into the tunnel, there is a nice souvenir shop. At one point you can exit out of the tunnels and stare up at the fall (you will be on the right side of it). The spray seemed to come in intervals, if you are quick enough it's possible to pull out your camera and take a quick mist-free shot. Pretty neat!

White Water Walk- The website of the Niagara Falls & Great Gorge Adventure Pass says this; "Stroll along a boardwalk at the very edge of one of the world's wildest stretches of whitewater." After taking an elevator ride down a couple hundred feet to the river, be sure to check out the profiles of some of the daredevils who have ridden the giant swells of the river. The boardwalk is very nice and I can see how this gets classified as whitewater... unknown if there are operators who run the rapids. The most interesting (to us) was the lady who rode the rapids in a barrel with her pet pooch and got stuck in the whirlpool downriver. After pulling out the barrel, she had perished because the dog had stuck its nose in the only available crack for air.

Butterfly Conservatory- The Butterfly Conservatory is on the grounds of the Botanical Park. This is a very nice park area with a small snack shop. There is no entrance fee to the Botanical Gardens itself. Inside the Butterfly Conservatory, you will sit through a brief period of instruction before being allowed to enter and explore. It's not that painful... There are headsets for play at designated stations (although the butterfly's in question might not be in the area).  We were amazed at the amount of butterflies here.

People Mover Bus- These shuttles take you to the various stops along the river all the way down to the Butterfly Conservatory and the Whirlpool Aero Car.

Danielle and I also rode the Whirlpool Aero Car, a cable car which is suspended over a bend in the Niagara River and above the whirlpool described in the White Water Walk (above). The whirlpool is touted as one of the deadliest in the world (everything is bigger and badder in Niagara). It's a short ride but worth it! A definite dinning must is the revolving restaurant at the top of the Skylon Tower! Also, diectly across from the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel (in Buffalo, NY) is a viewing platform and Goat Island. Cross the Rainbow Bridge (you'll see it) and turn right toward the platform. I would attempt to get away from Goat Island at dusk as the hoodlums doing shenanigans come out. NOTE: bring your passport for entry into the U.S. We saw a couple of Europeans who thought it would be funny to attempt entry into the United States without ANY picture identification... funny until they got carted away to the back room where customs fingerprinted and ran them through a very lengthy process to determine their intentions. My personal opinion is that Niagara Falls shoiud make the "Life List" of things to do before checking out!
