Lake Havasu Birthday Celebration-
The 4 of us girls drove out to the river after work on Friday; we met the boys up in Earp, CA where Lisa and Jeff own a house on the Colorado River (a supped up mobile home with an extra room added on to sleep more people). Tonight was special; it was both Lisa and Nikki’s 30th birthday! So, of course we celebrated appropriately and woke up totally hung over the next morning.
After packing the coolers (with of course more booze) we were ready to get out on the Lake. We crossed over into Arizona, made a quick stop at Subway (the $5 footlongs were perfect for a day on the water) and we were ready to launch. At our first stop, Steamboat Cove, we just relaxed, and listened to some great music (ipods plugged into a modulator worked beautifully!) There were restrooms here, but I think everyone warmed up the lake instead. Next stop, Copper Canyon. I had never been here before, but I sure heard the stories! So it surprised me that we were the 1st boat there. Soon it quickly filled up and crazy people were cliff jumping one after the other. “River Enema!” Time to switch from a day on the river to a night out on the town… well, Blue Water Casino.
Jeff talked to neighbors about getting a taxi to shuttle us to the Casino and back but what came to pick us up was the most ghetto fabulous limo I have ever seen!! That was the best part of the evening! The 6 of us piled in and off we went- you should have seen the looks on peoples faces when we pulled up to the Casino! The birthday girls were something with their tiaras on! Drinking, dancing and gambling- Dave the Casino is not your friend!
We were all a little sluggish the next morning, but were pumped to go out on the lake again. Filled the coolers, stopped at Subway, and launched the boat. Today we headed to Sandbar to meet up with a group of Jeff and Dave’s friends. The lake was definitely choppier than the day prior. We passed the channel & London Bridge (which I didn’t know was actually shipped from London). The coolest thing I saw was a bright orange houseboat that I was told doubled as a restaurant and general store. This was also my 1st trip to Sandbar; again I had heard the stories! When we pulled up, there were boats everywhere and it was so cool seeing all these people playing and partying on the sandbar. We pulled up next to their friends boat and turned up the music! Dogs were chasing Frisbees, guys were playing football, and there was even a party boat-literally a dance club on a boat. So much fun! The boat ride back was even choppier than earlier, if felt like we were getting beat up!
That night we all crashed as soon as we got back to their house. Woke up a few hours later, ate, and crashed again. The weekend had totally caught up with us!
Final mornings a drag…we all got up, packed up, cleaned up the boat and drove home. Can’t wait to do it again! Thanks Lisa and Jeff!
